It’s a transformational time of year with an abundance of colours and flowers exploding all around us. It is known as the season of birth. HSS Cadet Jasmine Unno is here to share some of her kaartdijin (knowledge) about this season and Noongar culture in the video. Meet Marie Hanna - National Citizenship Day 17 September 2022 Australia is home to a colourful mix of nationalities and backgrounds, but our Australian citizenship is the common bond which unites us all. Every year on 17 September, Australia welcomes thousands of new citizens in local communities across the nation. Marie Hanna, a Team Leader in Accounts Payable at HSS, is a newly minted Australian citizen. Marie was born in a town called Valence, in Southern France, to a Lebanese father and a French mother. Marie stayed in Valence until she finished high school then went to university to study Optometry. Part of the course required a six-month internship and Perth was one of the places offered by the university. Ever since Marie was small, she knew she wanted to live in an English-speaking country, and maybe even one day have bilingual children, so she packed her bags and flew to Perth, a place she had not previously even heard of. She returned t...

It’s a transitional time of year with some very cold and clear days combined with warmer, rainy and windy days. It is known as the season of conception. HSS Cadet Jasmine Unno is here to share some of her kaartdijin (knowledge) about this season and Noongar culture in the video. Sharing this kaartdijin is an important part of building Aboriginal cultural awareness at HSS to help create a culturally safe and inclusive environment that attracts Aboriginal people to our workforce. • HSS integral to the WA community RAT Program 27 July 2022 In early 2022, the Western Australian (WA) Government approved the use of Rapid Antigen Tests (RATs) to help people self-identify positive cases of COVID-19 and reduce the spread of the virus in the community. Having easy and convenient access to these self-testing kits has become a key tool in our response to the coronavirus. Without them, we’d still be relying solely on PCR testing, putting pressure on testing clinics, and taking vital health care workers away from important work - providing patient care. According to Director, Rapid Antigen Testing, Deepti Shukla - who has been involved in the procurement, storage, distribution and demand management of our State’s RAT supply - HSS has played an integral role in the rollout of the free RAT program to the WA community.
