HSS invests in the next wave of leaders
Each year Health Support Services runs a program for employees at various stages of their leadership journey: The HSS Leadership Academy.
Over nine months, participants immerse themselves in context-based leadership development and explore how they can apply their learning to real situations within the workplace.
The learning is a combination of in-person modules, group projects, 360 and 180 degree feedback surveys, and coaching, with participants learning side-by-side with colleagues from across the whole organisation.
The Academy consists of three key programs, each stage of the leadership journey:
-
Emerging Leaders Program: Aimed at individuals who are not yet in formal leadership roles but have been identified as high-potential candidates for future leadership positions.
-
Leading Others Program: Designed for individuals in formal leadership roles, focusing on the skills needed to motivate and empower others to achieve high-quality outcomes.
-
Leading Leaders Program: Tailored for those accountable for achieving results through other formal leaders and their teams within specific business areas, as well as influencing leaders across multiple areas
A key feature of the Academy is the opportunity to learn alongside peers from all areas of the organisation, and forming lasting relationships and widening networks.
Lachlan Martin, Manager Recruitment and Appointment, was a participant of the Leading Leaders 2025-26 cohort, and attested to the value in learning together.
“The relationships built through this program have been a highlight. Learning alongside people from different backgrounds, roles, and perspectives reminds us that leadership doesn’t exist in isolation.”
Health Support Services recently celebrated the graduation of the three programs, and are now preparing for the 2026-27 intake, and supporting those who have an interest in making an impact as a leader or emerging leader at HSS.
