GreenPower at HSS marks a sustainable step in the right direction

We are celebrating an important step towards a more sustainable health system. In 2025-26, we're matching the electricity use from our three CBD offices and two warehouses by purchasing accredited renewable energy through GreenPower.

This means the electricity that powers everything at HSS from computers to forklifts will generate net zero greenhouse gas emissions this year.

So, the HSS procurement, ICT, workforce, and financial services that support you to deliver excellent healthcare are now more environmentally sustainable than ever before!

It’s a low-cost, high-impact step that supports the WA Health Strategy for an environmentally sustainable, low carbon, and climate resilient healthcare system 2024–2030.

GreenPower is an independently audited, Australian Government program. It ensures that electricity use by customers who purchase GreenPower is matched with renewable electricity being fed into Australian grids.

By buying GreenPower, HSS is reducing its net greenhouse gas emissions while helping build Australia’s renewable energy industry.

HSS’ new Environmental Sustainability Action Plan commits to going beyond electricity. Future initiatives include:

• Improving sustainability criteria in Whole of Health contract evaluations.
• Gaining a better understanding of supplier sustainability credentials.
