Pride art installation unveiled

Since the launch of our Diversity and Inclusion Strategy 2021, we’ve been taking steps to build awareness of and show support for our LGBTIQA+ community so that they can feel seen, included and valued.

In addition to new pronoun stickers launched last month for our employee ID cards, our Rainbow Group launched another initiative to engage our people in the development of a Pride art installation.

Employees at each of our locations were encouraged to write a message of support on a coloured piece of paper in the shape of a butterfly. Butterflies symbolise life, endurance, change, and hope and the heart is the universal symbol of love. Hundreds of butterflies were collected and combined to form a unique and special piece of art.

While the butterflies were cut from a range of colours to represent the Pride flag, the Group also made sure to include brown, black, pink and pale blue butterflies to represent people of colour and our transgender, intersex, and non-binary friends.

The final artwork was unveiled by our Chief Executive, Robert Toms at a special Pride themed sundowner in November where our people engaged in positive conversations around what Pride means to them and what makes each of us unique.

Four canvases have been displayed at each of our locations as a visual display of our continued commitment to the inclusion of LGBTIQA+ people because everyone belongs at HSS
