Supporting our customers and our people through COVID-19
The COVID-19 pandemic has seen us face unprecedented challenges in a continuously evolving environment. At HSS, we’ve risen to this challenge and continued to support our customers across the WA health system so that they can deliver excellent health care to the WA community.
This means ensuring our amazing healthcare workers continue to receive their wages on time every fortnight, vendor invoices are paid, customer queries are responded to and key projects continue to progress as planned.
Some additional highlights over the past few months also include:
- Sourcing multiple plane loads of critical personal protective equipment (PPE), medical equipment and supplies for the WA health system, during a time of high demand and major disruptions to global supply chains.
- Our ICT teams were instrumental in the rapid establishment of metropolitan COVID clinics and the provision of critical IT Field Support services at hospitals and health centres across the Perth metropolitan area.
- We rolled out Windows Virtual Desktop to enable more WA health system staff to work from home and doubled our internet capacity to support the increased demand for videoconferencing and new users across the system.
- Our Employee Services team processed more than 6,000 job applications to support the WA health system’s rapid recruitment campaign to bolster its clinical workforce.
We’ve also prioritised the wellbeing of our people by adapting the way we work to keep everyone safe. This included implementing an enhanced sanitisation regime for our offices, introducing flexible working arrangements aligned to business requirements.
Chief Executive Robert Toms said as a shared services provider, our focus is on supporting our customers during this challenging time while ensuring the safety of our people.
“We needed to act quickly so that our customers working in public hospitals and various health centres get the support they need in responding to this pandemic,” Robert said.
“These have been uncertain and complex times and we’ve adapted our operations to keep our people safe while delivering essential services to the WA health system.
“I’m proud at the way our people have risen up to these challenges and demonstrated our values in supporting our customers.”
