NurseWest plays key role in COVID-19 Vaccine Program roll-out
NurseWest played a key role in the initial roll out of the WA COVID-19 vaccination program by providing 30 nurses to dedicated clinics to help administer the vaccine to the first round of recipients.
The experienced registered nurses completed their required Australian Immunisation courses and supplementary COVID-19 Vaccine eLearning modules before being deployed to special vaccination clinics at Perth Children’s Hospital, the Perth Convention and Exhibition Centre, Perth Airport, Fremantle Ports and quarantine hotels.
Nine nurses were also deployed to WA Country Health Service sites in the Great Southern, Pilbara, Kimberley, and Broome.
NurseWest Manager Paul McEleny said that there had been a great response from the casual workforce when asked to assist with the vaccination program.
“NurseWest is proud of our casual workforce’s response to the increased demands for temporary personnel resulting from the COVID19 pandemic,” Paul said.
“The COVID19 Vaccination Program request has been very well responded to and we have many staff ready for the duration of the program.
“This example of staff supporting the WACHS roll-out typifies the responsiveness of the pool as it’s not easy packing a bag, leaving home at short notice and then performing in an unfamiliar environment.”
